Opti International- PGA Show with 1 Under Golf

Hey guys,

I know it’s been a while but it’s been a pretty productive week for me, I had my first golf practice with the team, started the spring semester, and met with a client about doing some marketing and branding work for him. But the reason I’m writing this post now is because I’m texting Patrick Foppe, he’s at the PGA Show, getting geared up for 2016, and he’s telling me all the INSANE new stuff that he’s getting. I don’t wanna say too much because it will be revealed in future posts but the main thing that I wanted to cover was the Opti International. Not only Opti lets you see how you use your brain when doing different activities, it helps you improve how you use your brain. As Opti puts it on their website: “The power to increase your performance level is in you – it’s in your brain! Yes, that brain. It has the power to take your skill from amateur or intermediate to advanced, professional or even World Class!”Patrick was very fortunate to acquire the technology and I have to say, I’m excited to see how he’s going to use it. Opti’s main statement here is this: “Train Yourself to be BETTER THAN YOUR BEST!™ Our patented feedback systems are unique!”

Opti comes in two different apps. Opti Brain & Opti TrainOpti Brain, is an evaluation program to track power and patterns in the brain while performing different tasks. Basically, it shows you how you are using your brain, your strengths and your weaknesses. You put on the MUSE headset, connect, and map your brain. Compare two sets of maps from two separate performances. Then you go to Opti Train, which is a feedback program that trains patterns in the brain that lead to optimal performance. So this is the app that helps you train the weak parts of your brain which helps you get to peak performance.

To see Opti in action, check out the official YouTube Video here.

I hope to experience Opti myself when I go to meet Patrick this week. I’m super excited so stay tuned guys. Theres been a lot of things going on for me in this past week as well. Im very excited about where things are going. Thanks for reading as always guys, and as always…

I Sat Down With PGA Professional Jim Rue…

Hey guys,

Yesterday I went out to Shaker Run to hang out with Patrick and a pro from Dayton by the name of Jim Rue. Jim has taught for more than 30 years. He started in Venezeula, where he met a gentleman who introduced Jim to a pretty famous professional, you may know him, David Leadbetter. Leadbetter isn’t Jim’s only exposure to big name golf celebs, he also spent time working with Jhonattan Vegas. He has since moved to Dayton, OH and currently teaches at Rollandia Golf Center. He enjoys coaching younger kids and teaching them the fundamentals of the game. Check out the videos on my YouTube below for the full story and thanks for reading.

Best Indoor Putting Drill to Get Your Putts On-line

Hey guys,

So there’s several inches of snow on the ground, I can’t go to the gym, I can’t go to the range so I thought I’d give you a little drill to do so you could practice a bit today. This is one of my favorites because I stuggle with starting my putts on the correct line. It’s hard at first but once you get the hang of it, it builds a ton of confidence. Disclaimer: this is not my drill, I learned this from a friend of mine.

For this drill you’ll need a few things:

  • A yard or meter stick.
  • Something to use as a cup, I have these carpet cups that work great.
  • A ball and a putter

This drill is very simple to set up, you just lay the yard stick in front of the cup like this:

The goal of this drill is to keep the ball on the yard stick as you put, it sounds hard but it makes you hit the putt perfect because if the ball moves off the like at all, it will fall off the yard stick. I go through my routine before each putt which is something everyone should do when practicing.

After you get good at this drill you will be able to start all of your putts on-line and you will have a bunch of new confidence so give it a shot.

Thanks for reading guys, stay tuned for more tips and drills. Also be sure to check back tomorrow, I’ve got something pretty cool for you all.

Patrick Demonstrating BodyTrak on the V1 Golf App

Hey guys, check out my newest video here featuring Patrick Foppe who owns 1 Under Golf. In my first interview video we learn about the new technology called BodiTrak. It’s a mat that senses the pressure your feet put out during the golf swing and I was lucky enough to not only learn about it from Patrick but to also get a lesson with it and learn how it works completely. So be sure to check it out guys, it’s  pretty educational video. Also be sure to watch, like, comment and subscribe!

Cincinnati Golf Show

I am back from a great day at the golf show. It was filled with networking, learning, and lots and lots of gear. After my dad and I had breakfast at Bob Evans, we traveled down to the Duke Energy Center to check in. We browsed around a bit before going into the actual show. There were numerous booths outside of the main room. Booths filled with clubs, balls, vacation packages, even local courses promoting themselves.

We didn’t linger out there too long as we wanted to get into the main show. I knew what I wanted to get, a rangefinder and a new head cover for my putter. I found the rangefinder first. A Bushnell Medalist, check! I was happy, I had needed one since July. Not having one didn’t hurt my long game too much, but it was killing my shorter approaches (130 and in.) After I got that I went and talked to my friends at Miles of Golf. They had their booth set up with trackman and a hitting bay. They were handing out range cards and having a long drive contest. If any of my readers are in the Cincinnati, OH or Ann Arbor, MI areas, go check out Miles of Golf for practice, instruction or club fitting. They’re one of the best around.

I left the  MoG booth to walk around some more. My dad and I cruised through Golf Exchange’s section. Behind them was all the local sales reps from Mizuno, Cobra, and Taylormade fitting people and allowing them to test equipment (no M2… *sigh*.) We then proceeded to the Rock Bottom Golf tent, who had a bunch of cheap clubs and shoes, but nothing too special.

A golf shop out of Fischers, IN was my next destination. I had bought a white and lime Scotty Cameron Circle T headcover there last year and was determined to get another. I found them and while they didn’t have as much as last year, I found one I liked. It’s a black  Dance Bomb head cover, because I drop bombs. Totally kidding, people who know me will tell you I don’t make anything. ANYWAY, I purchased my head cover so…check!

After I had bought everything I wanted we were going to go downstairs to check out the Travel, Sports, and Boat Show. However, on the way down I saw a PGA Professional I know, Ashley Duff, who teaches out of the Spencer Golf Academy in Fairfield, OH. So I went and said hello to her, but while we were talking I noticed in the hitting bay next to us that a BodiTrak Mat was set up with a Flightscope. I was intrigued, so I talked to the guy working it. His name is Patrick Foppe, (1 Under Golf) and he is a PGA professional who coaches out of both Ohio and Colorado. I don’t want to get too in depth with this yet because I have more content coming from him. But lets just say he gave me a quick lesson with BodiTrack and I picked up about 10 yards with my 5 iron. It’s pretty cool stuff. Stay tuned for more with Patrick, I’d really like to work with him some more.

So that pretty much sums up my day at the Cincinnati Golf Show. It was a good one, I made some great connections today. Really excited about some things to come, so stay tuned. Remember in golf and in life, stay focused and get your Bogeyface on.

What I Have Planned for this Weekend: Cincy Golf Show

Hey guys,

Tomorrow I will be going down to the Cincinnati Golf Show. I have gone down for the last 3 years or so and it’s always a good time. Ill be recording and taking pictures. Hopefully talking to some people and networking a bit. I will also showcase some of the stuff that’s there, whether it’s new or cool. I’m really excited to see some of the new stuff (fingers crossed for an Taylormade M2 preview) Usually you can find some good deals down there, I need a rangefinder so thats what I’m hoping for.

Stay tuned, I’ll be vlogging about the day so be sure to check out YouTube, and if you’re going down there as well, come find me. And be sure to go visit the Miles of Golf booth, they have a long drive contest along with some other good stuff.

Big Things Coming Soon

I know things have been kind of slow, I’m still learning, but my goal is to have everything up and running by next weekend. I haven’t been playing much golf as the weather here is bad and I’m focusing on getting this ready to go, but that will change soon.

Im already getting tons of ideas for content and have big ideas for this blog.
